Sofia Osuna
Vein Care Specialist Assistant
Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, and now thriving in Tampa, Florida, Sofia Isabel comes from a widely mixed Latino ethnic background (Cuban, Argentinian, Spanish and Venezuelan). She is a dedicated biomedical sciences student on the premedical track at the University of South Florida, with aspirations of becoming a surgeon. Her passion for medicine is matched by an unwavering commitment to service, leadership, and cultural advocacy. Before transitioning into the medical field, Sofia spent five years practicing culinary skills, including working at a Michelin-star restaurant. This deep appreciation for cooking extends beyond the kitchen, as she actively writes recipes in her free time. Her love for chemistry, traveling (at least once a month), tennis, and dancing enriches her dynamic approach to life. In addition to academics and personal passions, Sofia is a dedicated volunteer and leader in multiple organizations. She serves as an ambassador for Feeding Tampa Bay, volunteers with the American Red Cross (where they also hold the position of president of the USF club), and has founded the USF Organization Minorities in Medicine. Her leadership also extends to advising the founding president of the Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos collegiate club. She is also an active Global Medical Brigades volunteer, having participated in a medical mission to Honduras and preparing for another in Panama. As a Spanish interpreter at the USF Health Bridge Clinic, she helps break language barriers in healthcare, further emphasizing her commitment to underserved communities. Additionally, she is an inducted member of the Rotaract Club within Rotary International, and an Undergraduate Intern at Moffitt Cancer Center’s Small Animal Imaging Laboratory. With a unique blend of medical ambition, culinary expertise, and humanitarian dedication, Sofia is on a path to making a lasting impact at Vein911 and beyond.
